Your first visit to Hornickel Chiropractic Clinic is designed to be a fact finding and evaluation visit and to be as convenient for you as possible. We have embedded all forms needed for your first visit on this web site so that you may be able to have all your forms filled out prior to arriving at our office. After being greeted and making a copy of your insurance card, you will be given a brief office tour and then taken to an exam room. At that time you will meet Dr. Hornickel and receive a consultation regarding your health problem to determine if you qualify as a chiropractic patient. Durin g the consultation, the doctor will ask you a number of questions regarding the history of your condition, other doctors you have seen and your current symptoms. It’s important that the doctor gets a thorough understanding of your condition as well as your health goals. Do you want temporary symptom relief or do you prefer reconstructive care to stabilize your spine?Examination You will be given an orthopedic exam and receive a Surface Electromyograph (SEMG) which is a painless computerized test showing levels of muscle tension in the muscles along the spine. The examination is designed to “draw out” areas of interference called subluxations. If it is determined that x-rays are needed, an x-ray exam will be performed at that point in time. The only time patient gowns will be utilized is if a lumbar x-ray needs to be performed. A gown can be eliminated at that point if the patient wears sweat pants or pants with no metal in the front (zippers, buttons, clasps, etc.). After verifying x-rays are of good quality, you will be placed on a hydrotherapy table. This table is like a heated waterbed with water jets that rotate and massage you from your neck to your lower back area. When the 8-10 minute massage is finished you will be scheduled for your next visit. Report of Findings The second visit is when you will receive your report of findings and first adjustment. It is this point in time that we go over your x-rays and exam findings to explain the CAUSE of your problem. A treatment schedule will be presented that outlines what is required to eliminate your vertebral subluxations and allow the body to function at its highest potential. We encourage, if at all possible, a spouse or significant other be present. If the patient is a minor, it is mandatory that a parent be present.1st Adjustment The chiropractic adjustment is the cornerstone of our profession and the method in which we remove the interferences in your spine.
